Getting AI to write like you
You know the email. "I hope this finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding..." Everyone can spot it now, your customers included. It doesn't have to sound like that.
Give it something of yours to copy
Paste in three or four emails or posts you wrote yourself, the ones that sound most like you, and tell it to write in that style. This makes the biggest difference by a long way. Keep them in a note so you can paste them in each time, or put them in the custom instructions so it remembers.
Tell it who's reading
"Write a reply to a regular who's annoyed her order was late. We've known her five years and she's lovely" gets you something far better than "write a reply to a complaint".
The phrases I cut every time
- "I hope this email finds you well"
- "I wanted to reach out"
- "Delve", "leverage", "seamless"
- "It's not just X, it's Y"
- "Great question!"
- A last line that wraps everything up in a neat little lesson
Then read it out loud
If you wouldn't say it to the customer's face, change it. Usually it only needs a couple of lines fixed.
